Mamma's Little Helper

Tessa is helping with Saturday morning chores.

"You're such a little helper."

Tessa becomes upset, "Why did you call me dat?"

"Because you're my little helper."

"Don't call me dat!"

"But you're being so helpful."

"I NOT little! I'm big! Look Mamma! I sucked a bug up. HA. HA. Dat's funny!"

Tessa: Year in Review

Mamma & Tessa are watching the year-in-review slide show that Mamma put together. When the first photos of her baby sister appear Mamma asks, "Remember when we first brought Vanessa home?"

Tessa who's still trying to understand the concept of adoption ask, "We PAID for her?"

Mamma, not sure what Tessa is getting at answers, "She's ours now."

"We bought her, like at the grocery store?"

The Elephant Girl

As I put Tessa to bed last night I noticed that the bridge of her nose was swollen.
“You have a big nose,” I told her.
“Like YOU?!” she replied.
I was unsure how to take that comment.

This morning she awoke with a huge nose, forehead and her right eye is swollen shut.
Today is picture day as school. Tessa looks like an offspring of the elephant man.

“I can’t go to school. The other kids will laugh at me.”
That’s when grandma walked in, saw Tessa and started to laugh.

She later told the doctor, "My eye is swallowed."
