The Haircut

Momma gets her hair cut short. That evening when she picks Tessa up at daycare Tessa touches Momma's now short hair. "You cut your hair. I don't like it." Momma explains that it's OK. That her hair will grow back.

In the car on the way home Tessa asks, "What TIME will it grow back?"

Morning Cuddles

Mamma & Tessa are cuddling in bed on a Saturday morning reading a book when Tessa announces, "I'm going to go smash Tessa's face in."

"Oh?" Asks a rather surprised mamma who'se never witnessed any agression from Tessa towards her little sister. "And do you say that to your friends?"

"No. We never smash a friend's face in."

"Do you even know what that means?"

"No."

Little Lady

Mamma opens the car door for Tessa to get out. "Here you go ma'dam"

Tessa jumps out of her car seat onto the sidewalk. As she marches up the sidewalk she calls back rather confidently, "I'm NOT your damn."

The Fear of Crackers

Mamma bought some new rice crackers. Tessa sits at the kitchen table studing the round wafer, looking at it from all angles. Then she breaks the wafer in half and says, "Look Mamma, Jesus's body is broken."

Communion

Tessa is sitting with Mamma in church when the communion plate is passed. Seeing an opportunity to start explaining communion to Tessa, Mamma grabs two elements, handing one to Tessa. Mamma quickly explains that the wafer is Jesus' body broken and that the grape juice is Jesus' blood. Tessa listens intently and then repeats back what she's heard. Then Pastor prays over the elents and Mamma nudges Tessa that it's OK to partake of the elements now. Tessa breaks the wafer and hands it to Mamma. When mamma motions for her to eat it Tessa refuses. The same for the cup of juice. When Mamma tries to explain that it's a cracker and grape juice and that it's OK to eat/drink she doesn't buy it. She's already been told it's Jesus's blood and body and simply says, "That's disqusting!"
